Phototherapy is "a therapeutic physical modality, using photons (light energy) from the visible and infrared spectrum for tissue healing and pain reduction" as defined by the North American Association of Laser Therapy (NAALT). Also known as laser and light therapy, low level laser therapy (LLLT), cold or soft laser therapy, low energy laser therapy or laser therapy. The therapeutic light energy can be produced by either LED (light emitting diodes, SLD (superluminous diodes, or super bright LEDs), or low level laser diodes.
1
Mechanism
MedX systems use specific wavelengths of red and infrared light (e.g., 633nm, 808nm, 870nm) to stimulate cellular function and trigger the body's natural repair processes. This is a non-thermal process, unlike high-level surgical lasers that cut tissue.
2
Benefits
The therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free solution that helps with pain relief, reducing swelling, and managing inflammation in both acute and chronic conditions.
-
Increases circulation and angiogenesis
-
Stimulates and improves nerve function
-
Strengthens and repairs bone and soft tissue
-
Increases mobility and muscle function

Conditions Treated
Based on the research and literature:
-
Treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, back pain, arthritis, muscle strains, carpal tunnel, and more.
4
Treatment Schedules
Acute Conditions:
Week 1, daily to 3 times per week, after this, 3-4 times per week, 10 - 20 treatments in total.
Chronic Conditions:
3-4 times per week, up to 15 - 25 treatments in total
Regular treatment schedule enhances accumulative effects and outcomes.
